MotoTron ECU Development Process
ECU development has never been easy. It involves many steps and tasks, such as concept definition, algorithm development, software coding, hardware design, low level operating system and driver development, hardware-in-the-loop testing, calibration and validation, ECU programming etc. These steps, in most cases, are interralated and iterative and require multi-disciplinary expertise and knowledge. This creates a lot of difficulties for many projects. MotoSolution, developed by MotoTron Corporation, provides an innovative platform for the development from concept to production. This solution includes:
- MotoHawk
- MotoTune
- MotoUpdate

MotoHawk - Production ECU-Based Rapid Prototyping
MotoHawk is an ECU-Based Rapid Prototyping system that provides the ability to develop, test and validate control applications built using Simulink/Stateflow models on top of the ControlCore software framework and MotoTron's controls hardware.
This provides a user a rapid development platform on low-cost hardware and a quick path to production. MotoHawk integrates the modeling and calibration tools and includes an optional in-vehicle heads up display.
MotoHawk supports a variety of applications using both single controller and distributed by-wire implementations. MotoHawk can be seamlessly integrated with other calibration software, such as ATI VISION and Vector CANape, etc.
Typical Applications:
- Gasoline Engine ECU Development
- Diesel Common-Rail ECU Development
- Diesel Aftertreat Control Development (SCR Control)
- Transmission Control Development

ECU Hardware Modules
MotoHawk includes a series of production ECU hardware modules.
MotoTron provides a range of rugged automotive, marine, and heavy duty vehicle designed electronic controller units (ECU).
MotoTron ECU's are economical both in small quantities for rapid prototyping, fleet testing and in large quantities for production. These ECM's range from 24 pins to 128 pins and include the 16 and 32 Bit microprocessors including the MPC555X, MPC5XX, and the HCS12.
