Drive Recorder NG The endurance measurement systems belonging to IAV's Drive Recorder family, IAV Drive Recorder NG® and IAV Drive Recorder Compact, record vehicle-specific data from passenger cars to commercial and special-purpose vehicles through their in-vehicle networking interfaces, in particular the CAN bus and K-line.
These units are distinguished by:
- Ease of system installation and configuration
- Autonomous mode of operation
- High data storage capacity
- Mobile or wired communication option (WLAN, Ethernet, GPS/GSM)
- Possibility of complex trigger conditions
- Easy-to-operate Windows user interface
Modular in concept, the IAV Drive Recorder NG® can easily be adapted to different measurement tasks. Compact design and integrated WLAN communication capability allow the IAV Drive Recorder Compact to be installed at otherwise hard-to-access places in the vehicle.
The IAV MobiDrive family extends the application capabilities of the IAV Drive Recorder NG®. All of the units belonging to this family feature a power management system capable of switching the Drive Recorder NG® on and off. In addition, all models are in a position to wake the Drive Recorder NG® in response to an activity being registered at the CAN interface. Catering for different needs, the family encompasses the IAV Mobi-DrivePowerbox, IAV MobiDrive-NG, IAV MobiDrive-Pro and IAV MobiDrive-WLAN.

Knock Indication System KIS-3
The Knock Indication System (KIS) is a powerful measurement system for online monitoring and evaluation of the knock activity of a combustion engine. The KIS is designed for the use at the test bench or in the vehicle.
The Knock Indication System (KIS) is a high-performance measuring system for the analysis of data from knock control systems. It offers objective indication of the knock activity of an engine. This enables drastic reduction in costs and time for knock-control calibrations.
The KIS has inputs for pressure and knock sensors, as well as additional interfaces for analog signals. DSP's calculate various characteristic values of the combustion (e.g. pressure peaks and maxima) from the signal plots. The KIS displays these values and analyzes them online.
A user-configured CAN interface allows the output of all measured values and statistical parameters from the KIS to other measuring and control systems.
Typical Applications:
- Knock Control
- Knock Detection
- Calibration of Knock Detection Systems
- On-Board and In-Vehicle Use
- Test Bench Automation
- Combustion Monitoring

Flexible Engine Control Unit FI2RE
IAV's flexible FI2RE control unit can be used to operate a wide range of spark-ignition and diesel injectors. Output stages are available for CR and PPD injectors, for solenoid valve and piezo actuators. FI2RE also comes with ignition output stages as well as additional control loops necessary for reliable engine operation, such as throttle valve actuator and a charge-pressure and exhaust-gas recirculation control system.
FI2RE has been on the market since 2001 and is constantly brought into line with the latest sensor and actuator developments. Our clients use FI 2RE systems on passenger-car engines a well as on large marine engines.
The latest addition to FI2RE is a TRA module. TRA stands for "thermodynamic real-time analysis". This makes it possible to upgrade FI2RE into an engine control unit driven by cylinder pressure. Cylinder pressure data are provided in real time. However, it is also possible to use cylinder pressures in the conventional way for indication measurements. Algorithms for computing the heating curve are integrated.
